Preserve Granbury is now accepting nominations for the group’s annual preservation awards, which will be presented at the group’s annual Membership Meeting and Preservation Picnic on May 11, during national Historic Preservation Month.

Nominations must be submitted by April 18. Awards will be presented in two categories: Preservationist of the Year and Preservation Project of the Year.

Nominations for Preservationist of the Year should present the individual’s, group’s, or company’s preservation efforts in the Hood County community in the past year, or as a body of work over an extended period of time. A brief written documentation of these accomplishments should be submitted.

Previous recipients of the Preservationist of the Year Award include the Cleveland Family, Jake Caraway, and Mary Kate Durham. Last year, Preserve Granbury honored Tarleton State University for its stewardship of the Langdon Center for many years and for donating the center to the community.

Nominations for Preservation Project of the Year should present a successful historic building rehabilitation project completed within the past year. At least two photos should accompany the nomination. Previous recipients of the Preservation Project of the Year award include Steve Rickenbrode for rehabilitation of his family home on West Bridge Street, Scott and Viki Young for restoration of the Red Bank Building on the southwest corner of the Hood County Courthouse Square, and the Bridge Street History Center Committee for their creation of a Granbury history museum in the historic Nutt House.
